In the morning of 3 February, at the Hotel Nikko, Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee held a press conference on the 8^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, a unique cultural and social event of Dak Lak in 2023.

Presence at the press conference included Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Communication, H’Yim Kđoh, representative of Vietnam Coffee Cocoa Association (Vicofa), leading officials of concerned provincial departments, communication ambassador of the Festival and some 200 reporters from various central and local news agencies and newspapers.

Speaking at the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Communication, H’Yim Kđoh, emphasized that coffee played an important role in the socio-economic life of Dak Lak and occupied a rather important place in the world coffee market. Building upon the successes of the previous 7 festivals, the 8^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023, would continue to promote the coffee brand of Buon Ma Thuot, to develop a special product of Vietnamese coffee and to step by step, turn Buon Ma Thuot into a destination of world coffee.

To prepare for the Festival, the communication work played a very important part in promoting, introducing the Festival, under the guideline that “Each and every local person and business in the province must be a communication ambassador”. The Organizing Committee believed that the 8^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023 would leave impressive hallmarks and hoped that it would be successful and it would create good opportunities for managers, businesses and friends from the world to meet, discuss business cooperation, with a view to contributing to marketing Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand, promoting investments, connecting businesses, expanding tourism and introducing unique features of the coffee culture, the people, potentials and strong points of a dynamic, friendly, hospitable and amicable Dak Lak.

At the press conference, the Organizing Committee introduced the activities of the 8^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023 and showed lively video clips on Dak Lak Province and Buon Ma Thuot coffee. In this connection, the 8^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2023 would last from 10 March 2023 to 14 March 2023 in Buon Ma Thuot City and other localities in the province. There would be 18 major activities with rich, diversified and unique character, in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies and street festivals… The 2023 Festival would have new activities, such as video contest on Buon Ma Thuot coffee, with the theme “Stories about Buon Ma Thuot coffee”, performance of the musical play “The desire of Dam San”, lights festival, exhibition of art photos, contest on making fine art products from coffee trees…

At the press conference, representatives of the mass media raised a number of questions on the program of the Festival, tourist tours, coffee production and business, solutions concerning policies and mechanisms to enhance economic efficiency of coffee growers, at the same time to contribute to promoting the socio-economic development in the province, financing and supporting mass media in covering relevant events, socialization, etc. The Organizing Committee responded to these questions and also expressed the hope that the mass media would continue to play a role in supporting the province in the communication work relating to the Festival, particularly the brand of Buon Ma Thuot coffee so that the position of Dak Lak coffee in particular and Vietnamese coffee in general could be affirmed in the world market as envisioned in the goal of the Festival.
