Program of the 7^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, 2019

         With the theme of “The Quintessence of Jungle”, the 7^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will be held from March 09^th – 16^th, 2019 in Buon Ma Thuot city and other districts of Dak Lak province.

        The 7^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, 2019, with the theme of “The Quintessence of Jungle”, aims to further promote “Buon Ma Thuot Coffee” brand, contribute to raising value of and affirming Vietnamese coffee’s position in the international arena. Besides, the Festival is an opportunity to honor coffee growers, processors and traders while encouraging the community to join hands to develop coffee culture in Dak Lak in particular, and Vietnam in general. Especially, the Festival aims to promote Vietnamese specialty coffee, step by step bringing Buon Ma Thuot become the destination of world coffee.

Festival will include six main groups of activities:

I. Opening Ceremony

- Theme: “The Quintessence of Jungle”

- Time: 20h00’, March 9^th, 2019 (Saturday)

- Venue: Main stage of the 10^th March Square, Buon Ma Thuot city

- Content:

+ Rites for the Opening Ceremony (about 30 minutes, held by the Festival Organization Committee);

+ Art program: about 60 minutes to 90 minutes, aiming to exude the Festival’s theme through the traditional stage combined with modernity, conveying the message of Buon Ma Thuot as the destination of world coffee.

+ Expected to be broadcasted on VTV1, VTV5, VTV8, DRT and other Radio and Televisions of Central Highlands provinces.

+ Organized by: Dak Lak provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in coordination with elected enterprises (100% socialization) to implement according to the approved plan.

+ Directed by: Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh, Standing Vice Chairman of Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee.

II. Conference on Dak Lak Investment Promotion 2019

- Time: 08h00, March 10^th, 2019.

- Venue: Muong Thanh Hotel, Buon Ma Thuot city.

III. Exhibitions and workshops

1. Coffee Specialized Exhibition

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019 (Opening at 9h00’ on March 9^th, 2019 and closing at 15h00’, March 13^th, 2019)

- Venue: No. 72 Nguyen Tat Thanh St., Buon Ma Thuot city

2. Workshop on the Development of Vietnam’s Specialty Coffee

- Time: 14h00’, March 10^th, 2019.

- Venue: Office of Dak Lak provincial People’s Council and Committee at No. 09 Le Duan St., Buon Ma Thuot city.

3. Exhibition of World’s Coffee History

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019

- Venue: Trung Nguyen Coffee Museum at Nguyen Dinh Chieu St., Buon Ma Thuot city.

4. Photo Exhibition of the 44^th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot Victory – Paths of History”.

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019.

- Venue: Dak Lak Provincial Museum.

IV. Promotion and Honoring activities

1. Street Festival

- Time: Opening at 16h00’, March 9^th, 2019 (Saturday)

- Venue: Dak Lak Provincial Cultural Center.

- Space: Main roads of Buon Ma Thuot city, from Nga Sau (six-way roundabout) to 3^rd Kilometer roundabout and ending at the 10^th March Square, Buon Ma Thuot city

2. Farmer’s Competition Final

- Time: Opening at 20h00’, March 11^th, 2019

- Venue: Main stage of the Festival, 10^th March Square, Buon Ma Thuot city

3. Vietnam’s Specialty Coffee Competition, 2019

- Time: From March 05^th – 09^th, 2019

- Venue: Precinct of the Coffee Specialized Exhibition

4. Opening “Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Book Street”

- Time: Opening from March 09^th, 2019.

- Venue: Alley No. 02, Phan Chu Trinh St., Buon Ma Thuot city

5. Enjoying Free Coffee

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019.

- Venue: At some roads, the Provincial Museum and famous coffee shops  in Buon Ma Thuot city.

V. Travel itinerary

1. Buon Don Elephant Racing

- Time: From March 11^th – 13^th, 2019 (Opening at 8h00’ on March 11^th; Closing at 9h00’ on March 13^th, 2019)

- Venue: Krong Na commune, Buon Don district.

- Content:

          + Wharf praying ceremony;

          + Elephant health praying ceremony;

          + Elephant competitions (The elephants will participate in a race, a soccer competition, and swimming race)

          + Elephant health praying ceremony after the Festival;

          + Traditional art and sports activities of ethnic minority groups in Buon Don district.

2. Performance of traditional rites and ceremonies of ethnic minority groups in the province

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019, focusing on March 15^th, 2019

- Venue: At 33 ethnic minority villages; districts and towns in the province

3. Competition Highlands Coffee and Cuisine

- Time: March 13^th, 2019.

- Venue: Ko Tam Ecotourism Village at No. 789 Pham Van Dong St., Tan Hoa ward, Buon Ma Thuot city.

4. Dug-out canoe racing

- Time: March 14^th, 2019

- Venue: Lak Lake, Lak district.

- Content: Dug-out canoe racing on Lak Lake.

5. Sightseeing tours:

- Time: From March 9^th – 16^th, 2019.

- Content:

+ Introducing coffee tourism tours: Experiencing and discovering the process of growing, caring, producing, processing and enjoying coffee.

+ Introducing ecological and cultural tours: Sightseeing, picnics of tourist destinations: Yok Don National Park, Buon Don Tourist Area, Lak Lake, Lac Giao Temple, Buon Ma Thuot Exile House, Provincial Museum, CADA plantation, etc.

          + Introducing adventure tour: Rowing dug-out canoe on Lak Lake; crossing the rapids along the Serepok river (from Dray Sap Thuong waterfall to Dray Nur waterfall) with a float boat.

VI. Closing Ceremony

- Theme: “Dak Lak and Friends”.

- Time: 20h00’, March 16^th, (Saturday).

- Venue: Main stage of the Festival, 10^th March Square, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province.

- Content:

+ Closing rituals (about 30 minutes, implemented by the Festival Organization Committee);

+ Closing art program: About 60 minutes with the participation of famous singers, artists, models, actors, beauties, etc. whose homeland in Dak Lak and having a reputation on the artistic path in the whole country.

+ Organized by: Dak Lak provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, inviting Binh Dien Fertilizer Company to sponsor and implement.

+ Directed by: Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh, Standing Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee.
