Mr. Pham Tien Hung, First Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, interviewed by the media

Interviewer: Mr. Vice Chairman, how is the preparation for the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival proceeding?

Mr. Pham Tien Hung: Buon Ma Thuot City is following the Provincial People's Committee's instructions on several items for the 8th Coffee Festival around three main areas.

We have been communicating to the broad mass of people and visitors as to the significance of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival. The people of Buon Ma Thuot are well aware that the Festival is an occasion to place Buon Ma Thuot coffee on the spotlight and raise its profile, and provides a tourist destination drawing the people of the province and visitors nationwide and worldwide to Buon Ma Thuot City.

The 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2023 will be held with international integration and a modern style in mind.

The municipal People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot drafted an overall plan and takes part in four different tasks: (i) To organize a cultural festival program through coordinating ethnic cultural festivals participated by ethnic minority groups and communities; (ii) To develop a coffee app to inform the public and visitors of good coffee shops, fine scenic landmarks, and qualified accommodation facilities providing great view and excellent service; (iii) To conduct a pilot program for pedestrian and cyclist streets in the lead-up to the Festival; and (iv) To call on citywide coffee establishments to provide at least one day of on-the-house service.

On festival logistics, we are instructing health authorities to review and inspect foodstuff and food service providers to ensure they adhere to food safety standards. We are also overseeing a renovation of the urban landscape and repair of roads to facilitate travel during the Festival. Plans are also under development to ensure public order, fire safety, and COVID-19 prevention.

The city is conducting these three lines of work vigorously, and we will surely observe the schedule set by the Provincial People's Committee.

Interviewer: To ensure the City's "Coffee and Tourism" app would be popularized among the public and visitors, what will the municipal authority do so that the app will be put to good use?

Mr. Pham Tien Hung: After four months of development, as of today the Coffee and Tourism app is complete for release.

As of today, the app is providing a list of 37 coffee delicatessens, 33 accommodation establishments, 15 tourist destinations, and a diverse range of select eatery services.

The app will help users find and select coffee shops, accommodation places, tourist destinations and eateries with ease, sorted by service style and type, within a radius of one, three, five or ten kilometers from their current location. The app will also provide direction to foster easy, speedy and affordable access to desired locations.

Through accurate, detailed and up-to-date information, vivid visual feedback and clear direction, the Coffee and Tourism app will help visitors and users select the best fit for themselves, their friends and loved ones, and most conveniently explore them as they dive into Buon Ma Thuot, the capital of coffee, especially during the 8th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2023.

For the Coffee App to be widely disseminated, we will continue to inform the public and tourists as to how to install and use it. We will also review and work with local business establishments to uphold health and fire safety standards and the quality of their service and coffee. Initially, 37 establishments are eligible for inclusion in the app, and this number will grow as we progress.

Going forward, Buon Ma Thuot City will continue to work together with the relevant agencies and services to review and update the list of local coffee shops, good accommodation establishments, and fine tourist spots eligible for listing on the application. This will certainly make the Coffee and Tourism app a credible information channel to bring Buon Ma Thuot coffee and tourism to public attention, to transform Buon Ma Thuot into a global coffee destination and play its part in elevating and establishing Vietnamese coffee's standing in the international market.

          Thank you very much!
