On the morning of February 22, the opening ceremony of the “Highlands Calling the Wind and Fire” program was held at the Ho Chi Minh Book Street.
This event is meaningful activity in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot victory and the liberation of Dak Lak Province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025), as well as the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of Viet Nam (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). It also aims to promote the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, scheduled for 2025.
A variety of dynamic activities are currently taking place at the Book Street.
The program is organized by the Dak Lak Provincial Literary and Art Association in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literary and Art Associations, with the goal of showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Central Highlands to the people of Ho Chi Minh City.
Dak Lak Province, located in the heart of the Central Highlands, is home to 49 of the 54 ethnic groups in Viet Nam, making it a convergence of diverse cultures. This region is renowned for its vibrant festivals that attract both domestic and international visitors, including the Elephant Festival, Gong Culture Festival, Waterway Worship Ceremony, and Grave Offering Ceremony. The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, in particular, has been recognized as a national festival held every two years.

The organizers have also brought to the Book Street a collection of 50 artistic photographs that highlight coffee, coffee culture, and the annual Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, created by photographers from the Dak Lak Literary and Art Association. In addition, there is an exhibition space featuring traditional Central Highlands musical instruments, ethnic textiles, and traditional coffee roasting tools. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on experiences, such as making “to he” (a traditional Vietnamese toy), listening to stories about the traditional pottery of the M’Nong Rlăm ethnic group, and exploring tourism opportunities in Lak District.
