With the theme “Buon Ma Thuot – The Destination of the World’s Coffee,” the 9^th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 aims not only to celebrate coffee producers but also to affirm the aspiration to elevate the Vietnamese coffee brand.

A Distinctive Cultural Event

The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival has been recognized by the Prime Minister as a national festival, held biennially in March, featuring a plethora of vibrant cultural events. Notably, the 9^th festival in 2025 coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the Victory of Buon Ma Thuot and the Liberation of Dak Lak Province (March 10, 1975 - March 10, 2025), symbolizing the region’s aspirations for progress and development.

This event is of great significance to promote the Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand and establish the city as the “Coffee Capital of the World.” This festival will contribute to enhancing the global standing of Vietnamese coffee and fostering economic and social development in Dak Lak Province.

In addition to key events such as the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, street festivals, and international trade conferences aimed at enhancing Vietnamese coffee, the 9^th festival will introduce new highlights, including a digital content creation competition to promote the festival online, a Coffee Camp themed “Companionship and Sharing” at the CADA Historical and Cultural Site in Krong Pak District, and the Vietnam Specialty Coffee Roasting Competition.

According to the organizing committee, the opening ceremony will feature a spectacular artistic program involving 1,500 participants, including artists, singers, actors, and students. A notable addition to the opening night will be a speech from the Executive Director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO), further solidifying Buon Ma Thuot’s status as a global coffee destination.

The street festival will feature prominent figures such as H’Hen Niê, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 and Top 5 Miss Universe 2018, and Đinh Thị Hoa, Miss Tourism Ambassador Vietnam 2024, serving as Media Ambassadors. The event will also showcase artisans from various provinces, farmers from 15 districts, international artistic troupes, rock bands, street performers from Ho Chi Minh City, flower floats, and motorcycle parades, all conveying a message of love for coffee and pride in Vietnamese agricultural products, reinforcing Buon Ma Thuot’s reputation as the world’s coffee destination.

A Signature Coffee City

The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will prominently feature in-depth activities focused on the coffee industry in Dak Lak and Vietnam. At the specialized coffee and OCOP product exhibition fair, visitors can explore approximately 400 booths showcasing coffee products, supporting coffee industry goods, equipment, and exemplary rural industrial products from the province. The fair will also include coffee brewing spaces inspired by European, Latin American, and Ethiopian styles.

The highlight of the festival is the Vietnam Specialty Coffee Roasting Competition 2025, marking the first time this prestigious event is held on such a large scale and in accordance with international standards. This competition will provide roasters with valuable experience for participating in international coffee roasting contests and inspire them to continually refine their skills and creativity in coffee roasting.

According to Trịnh Đức Minh, President of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association, the Vietnam Specialty Coffee Roasting Competition 2025 is a specialized event that serves as a core activity to attract coffee enthusiasts. This initiative aims to honor the craft of coffee roasting within the coffee supply chain. Notably, the competition will feature accompanying events such as a talk show on the theme “Buon Ma Thuot – The Destination of the World’s Coffee,” where coffee lovers, investors, businesses, farmers, tourism professionals, and creative youth can discuss ideas and strategies to establish Buon Ma Thuot as a symbol of specialty coffee, blending enjoyment, culture, and tourism.

With its national scale and international vision, all activities of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival are expected to create a vibrant and diverse coffee world. This festival will also serve as a platform to generate new values for Buon Ma Thuot coffee and ensure that Vietnamese coffee continues to shine on the global stage.
